2019  재미한인장학기금 모집 안내

대한민국 정부가 지원하고 주미대사관이 운영하는 재미한인장학기금의 2019년도 장학생 선발계획이 아래와 같이 확정 발표 되었사오니 관심있는 분들의 많은 참여 바랍니다.

 1.모집요강

가. 신청 자격
○ 신청일 기준 정규 4년제 대학 및 대학원에서 full-time으로 학위과정을 이수중인 한인 (Korean 또는 Korean-American) 학생으로 직전 1년(2018 가을학기와 2019 봄학기*)의 대학(원) 성적(GPA)을 제출한 사람(다만, 아래 기준을 충족해야 함)
* 접수일정상  봄학기 성적 제출이 어려운 특별한 사정이 있는 경우에는 2018년 봄학기 성적을 제출할 수 있음
– 최근 1년간 GPA 3.0이상 (단, GPA는 4.0 기준)
– 대학의 학부 및 대학원 재학중 KHS 장학금 수혜사실이 없는 자
(대학원생 또는 대학원 진학예정자로서 대학 학부 재학 중에 KHS 장학금 수혜 사실이 있는 경우에는 지원 가능하나, 대학원 재학중 이미 장학금 수혜자는 신청불가)

나. 서류접수 : 신청서 접수 4월 29일(월)~6월 21일(금)※마감일자 우편소인 유효 지역공관심사 6월 24일(월)~6월28일(금) ※ 9월 이후 장학금 지급

다. 제출 서류(①~⑤는 공통, ⑥, ⑦, ⑧은 해당자만 제출)
① 신청서(소정양식) 1부
※ 대사관 홈페이지(http://usa.mofa.go.kr  : 교육정보에서 “재미한인장학기금 검색, http://overseas.mofa.go.kr/us-en/brd/m_4513/list.do  에서 “Korean honor scholarship” 검색 ) 또는 워싱턴 한국교육원 홈페이지(www.kecdc.org )에서 신청서(application form)를 내려 받아 사용
② 성적증명서 1부( 1년 성적, 대학 발행 원본이어야 함)
※성적(GPA)은 지원서 제출 당시 직전 1년간의 성적표를 제출하되, 4.0 기준으로 환산된 (graded credits, not Pass or Fail) 성적을 제출하여야 하며, GPA 만점이 4.0이 아닌 경 우 신청자가 4.0을 기준으로 환산하여 기재 제출 성적(GPA)의 경우 Pass or Fail은 인정 하지 않음

③ 추천서(소속학교 교수) 1부 – (가급적 대학 Seal이 있는 용지 사용 권장)
④ Essay 1부 (500단어 이내: 영문 12 point, double space)
※ 에세이는 영문으로 본인 자신이 아래의 주제로 작성하여야 함

-My Plans for success in my future professin and life in America
※ 우수 에세이 선정자의 경우 대외에 공개할 예정이므로 유의하여 작성바람
⑤ Résumé 1부 (입상실적, 특별활동, 봉사활동, leadership 등 포함)
※ 대학원생의 경우 Research Publications, Presentations 등의 Information을 기재
※ 증빙서류가 있을 경우 첨부(특히 대학원 입학 예정자의 경우 입학허가 관련 증빙서류 포함)
⑥ 예능계 장학생 지원자만 제출: 미술 부문 지원자는 본인 작품(Work Image에 작품 Size, Medium, 작업년도 기입) 10매를 저장한 CD 1매, 음악 부문 지원자는 본인의 연주모습(20분 분량)을 저장 한 DVD(※Video 혹은 녹음테이프는 안됨) 1매를 반드시 다음 3가지 포맷 중의 하나를 선택,저장하여 제출  – Windows Media Player, QuickTime Player, GOM Player
⑦ 입양학생 또는 장애자 학생 제출: 입양사실 또는 장애자임을 입증할만한 증빙서 류(출생증 명서, 입양사실증명서 등 : 자동차 운전면허증 사본, 장애자 단체 추천서, 기타 심사위 원이 인정할 서류 )
⑧ 한국어능력 가산점 (5점 범위 내) 대상자(해당자만 제출)
○ “대한민국 이외의 국가에서 중학교 및 고등학교를 졸업한 동포학생“에 한하며, 다음 서 류 중 하나를 제출
※ 미국 등 외국 소재 고둥학교에서 한국어과정 수강 학생의 경우 성적증명서 1부 (B+ 이 상)
※ SAT II 한국어 시험에 응시하여 받은 성적표 사본 (700점 이상)
※ 국립국제교육원(또는 한국교육과정평가원)의 한국어능력시험(TOPIK)에 응시하여 받은 한국 어능력인증서 사본 (5등급 또는 6등급)

2.선발 기준 및 모집 절차

가. 선발기준 :  심사위원회에서 학업성적(GPA), 추천서,에세이,이력사항 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 선발
나. 선발절차
1) 일반 장학생(AC. AG. KC. KG)
신청→대학 소재지 관할 총영사관총영사관→ 총영사관 지역심사→대사관 중앙심사 위원회 (최종)→운영위원장→확정
2) 예능계/입양 및 특별 장학생 (SM,SA,HS)
신청→주미대사관(교육관실)→중앙심사위원회 심사→운영위원장 확인→확정
3)우수 장학생 및 우수 에세이상
주미대사관 중앙심사위원회 심사→운영 위원장→확정

3.기 타

가. 제출된 서류는 일체 반환되지 않으며, 심사내용은 공개되지 않음
나. 대학원 진학예정자의 경우 진학 관련 증빙서류를 별도로 제출하여야 함
다. 우수 에세이상 수상자의 에세이는 언론 등 외부에 공개할 예정임
라. 지원서는 대학 소재지 관할 총영사관에 제출함을 원칙으로 함

The Korean Honor Scholarship(KHS) Committee extends an invitation to Korean and Korean-American undergraduate and graduate students to compete for the 2019 Korean Honor Scholarship.

1.Dates for Year 2019 Contest

○ Final round evaluation by Central Selection Committee: July 12, 2019

○ Application period: April 29 ~ June 21, 2019

○ First round evaluation at regional consular offices: June 24 ~ June 28, 2019
2.Qualifications

-At the time of application, an applicant must be a full time 4-year college or graduate student who has achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher at least for the previous one academic year(Fall, 2018 ~ Spring*, 2019)* If not available, Spring(2018) is also accepted.

※ The GPA should be on a 4.0 basis (Pass or Fail is not acceptable).

-Any students whose parents are Korean (either one or both) or any legally adopted Korean-American students are welcome to apply.

-Scholarship will be awarded once in undergraduate and graduate level respectively.

(Past beneficiary in graduate level must not apply for this scholars

3.Required Documents

-Application form: available at

-Official school transcript, including the 2018-2019 academic year

※ If the transcript GPA is not on a 4.0 basis or if letter grades are given, the applicant must convert the grades into those of a 4.0 basis. Submit both the converted grades record and the official original school transcript.

– A letter of recommendation from a professor at the applicant’s institution

– An Essay written in English by he applicant: up to 500words(point12, double spaced)

※ Applicants must write under the following title :

– My plans for success in my future profession and life in America

-Résumé (including records of awards, extracurricular and volunteer activities, leadership, etc.)

※ Graduate students should list research publications and presentations in their résumé.

Especially student who gets graduate admission should submit the relating documents.

-Applicants of music or art field only: either one of the followings

※ Art student must submit a CD that 10 pieces of his/her original works are recorded in (The size and medium of works and the year when works were created must be specified in each work image).

※ Music student must submit a DVD that a 20-minute long his/her own performance is recorded in. (Video or cassette tape will NOT be accepted.)

※ Both CD and DVD must be submitted by one of the following recording types: Windows Media Player, QuickTime Player, and GOM Player.

– Adoptee and Handicapped students only: Documents to prove disability or adopted (such as copy of applicant’s driver’s license, or birth certificate etc. by related organization, other supporting documents)

– Only for Korean-American students who did not graduate middle and/or high school in Korea: either one of the followings (if applicable)

※ School transcript for the Korean language course(s) taken at a high school in the U.S.A. and foreign countries except Korea (B+ or higher)

※ SAT II Korean test score (700 point or higher)

※ “Certificate of Proficiency in Korean (Grade 5 or 6)”, available by TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) administered by National Institute for International Education or Korea Institute of Curriculum & Evaluation

※ NEWL/Korean Test Score by American Council for International Education.

4.Other Information

-Applications will NOT be returned.

-Unqualified applicants will NOT be reviewed and the evaluation process is confidential.

-Applications must be submitted to the regional consular office CLOSEST TO YOUR HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION
